Dubai Medical University Strengthens Academic-Clinical Partnerships for Future Healthcare Excellence
On April 14, 2025 Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Dean, College of Pharmacy and Vice Chancellor of Dubai Medical University (DMU), along with Prof. Mirza Baig, Associate Dean – Clinical Affairs, held a fruitful meeting with the Academic & Training Affairs (ATA) team at Fakeeh University Hospital (FUH).
The meeting brought together key leaders including Dr. Mazen Abou Chaaban, Designated Institutional Official; Dr. Waqar Ahmed, PharmD, MSc, MBA, CHMP, MTM Director of Pharmacy and Ms. Marlies Klok, Senior Manager; and Ms. Rowaida Bardan, ATA Coordinator, to further strengthen the academic collaboration between DMU and FUH.
Fakeeh University Hospital, through its ATA department, continues to serve as a platform for delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and affordable education to students and emerging healthcare professionals. It also plays a vital role in promoting continuous knowledge development and providing robust clinical exposure to students and trainees.
The College of Pharmacy at DMU is proud of its ongoing collaboration with FUH, particularly in offering pharmacy students high-quality clinical clerkship opportunities. During the meeting, Prof. Sherief and the ATA team explored several potential initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare education and service delivery. These included:
• Organizing joint healthcare conferences and seminars.
• Promoting interprofessional education and collaborative learning across various healthcare disciplines.
• Creating opportunities for locum clinical pharmacists to gain hands-on ward experience while mentoring DMU students as clinical preceptors.
• Launching impactful public healthcare awareness programs.
• Encouraging high-quality collaborative research with a focus on achieving publications in Q1-ranked journals.
• Expanding initiatives in medical education and professional development programs.
